While I’m not into dating Jewish girls (at least not enough to only look for them) there are some people that yearn for perfect Jewish girls. Some of those people choose to go to Jdate.com and others choose to use Jwed. Well, those looking to marry Jewish girls. Given that so many people have this burning desire to meet girls of this religion, I had to write this review to share all that I know.
My Review of JWed.com
For those of you who hold deep religious convictions, it can be quite the challenge attempting to re-enter the dating world. Without some sort of framework, finding someone who’s “on the same page” regarding your beliefs can be a pretty major hurdle for the single-and-looking crowd. It’s always frustrating to have a good conversation or two with a potential partner, only to find out that their religious attitudes are wholly different from your own.
While not every religion has a website or websites dedicated to finding a match, the Jewish faith actually has quite a few. Today, the focus is on Jwed, a website designed with marriage in mind. So, is Jwed cause for a cheer of “mazel tov”? Read on to find out!
Design & First Looks
Once you’re entered JWed into your browser, you’ll be greeted by a clean-looking splash page adorned in shades of blue & white. The site’s language makes it immediately clear that casual Jewish daters should try another site, as JWed is specifically for the marriage-minded.
As you scroll down, the site also lets you know that any & all profiles are screened for quality & reputability. Keep in mind that screening isn’t the same thing as a background check, so if you’re ever curious about a fellow user, it’s always better to do some digging yourself.
While not the fanciest site out there, JWed’s design screams thoughtfulness & quality. You’ll be wonderfully free of spam, pop-ups, & borderline pornographic images (like you deal with here) while you use this site, which is frankly a great way to weed out the more casual users.
Signing Up For JWed
Once you’ve settled in and decided to give JWed a real try, you’ll be in for a lengthy process. This is primarily due to JWed’s dedication to keeping their user base Jewish & serious about dating. You’ll be answering quite a lot regarding your faith, along with some personal details like your phone number & name.
Once you’ve gotten your info entered, you’ll be redirected to the site’s home page. This approach is a bit faster than email verification and helps you keep certain contact details private.
Profile Creation
Once you’ve finished the tiresome registration process, you’ll then have to fill out the rest of your profile. This is where you’ll be entering typical things like profile images and short essay questions about your day-to-day life.
While you may not be terribly keen on filling out another batch of questions so soon after signing up, it’s pretty vital that you finish. The more details about yourself that you’ve got displayed, the more matches you’re bound to get.
Reaching Out
Looking at other member profiles is pretty simple, thanks to JWed’s search function. Users are by default given automatic matches based on location & profile information.
But, if these automatic matchups aren’t quite doing it for you, you’re also able to put together customized member searches based on any number of your particular wants. This includes member location, type of photos they’ve uploaded, specifics regarding beliefs, and a lot of other choices.
Something important to keep in mind regarding location-based searches on JWed is that the site’s user base isn’t the largest. This means that if you’re only looking for folks in your own small town, you may miss out on a lot of potential dates that are just a city or two away. Made sure to cast a wide net, and use multiple cities around your area.
Messaging
JWed is pretty limited when it comes to communication, with users being able to send either email or instant messages, provided they’ve paid for a membership. While certainly a stripped-down approach that lacks options like video chat & “flirts”, it likely suits a marriage-based site like JWed.
In the future, however, I’d definitely like to see JWed add voice & video chat, as it’s a great way to foster intimacy in the beginning stages of a relationship.
Specialties
JWed has a few notable features, the first of which is “My Travel Plans.” If you choose this option, you’ll be able to keep potential matches up-to-date on where you’re traveling & what you’re up to.
Members will be able to check your progress, along with any updates & photos that you might share. At the end of the day, this promises that even the busiest jetsetters out there will have a shot at setting up a date or two and taking a chance on love.
Another of these features is “Profile Highlight”, which can put you ahead of the competition by making your profile quite a bit more visible. This means that you’ll be constantly at the top of the list for new members in your area. Keep in mind that this is a bonus feature & requires some spare change to get up & running. Speaking of costs…
Pricing
If you’re looking to go all-in on JWed, you can choose from 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month periods. Regardless of which payment option you choose, you’ll have to pay the full amount in one lump sum. This isn’t always an easy pill to swallow, as some folks would prefer to use an unfamiliar website for a while before dropping $100 or more into a membership.
JWed also offers tiers like “Standard” & “Plus,” but there’s not too much literature on these options. From what I could tell, it seems like certain special features are only offered to Premium members. For full information, make sure you check out JWed’s fine print.
Without any of these options, users will be pretty severely limited as to what they can do JWed. In fact, at the free level, all members can do is browse profiles and accept emails. Sending emails if off-limits, so if you’re looking to keep it cheap, you’re going to have to cross your fingers & hope for the best.
Our Thoughts
For Jewish folks who’ve decided that it’s time to settle down and find a long-term partner, JWed is a great resource. JWed certainly doesn’t boast the largest userbase on the Web, but there’s still a healthy number of Jewish singles on JWed who are looking for that perfect someone. I’d recommend giving it a try.
